BEES

1a: What if bees were as big as cats.

We may have more oxygen.

The flowers may grow larger than usual.

1b: Imagine your dad went to work with a jar of live bees on his head, write two paragraphs why he would do this?

Every day my dad goes off to work with a jar of live bees on his head. I guess he may have decided that if bees produce oxygen he will never run out. Or maybe he read how bees scientifically shouldn’t be able to fly but did it anyway, and is trying to increase his ego levels.

Every day my dad goes off to work with a jar of live bees on his head. I guess he was having troubles at work and heard that bees think out of the box, and was trying to get some new ideas. Or perhaps he was simply trying to improve his balance.

1c: Imagine there was a law against killing bees, write down the positives and negatives of this.

Bees could produce more

Bees could produce more oxygen

Bees would not be allowed to sting us.

Most bees death are basically suicidal.

Humans cannot be to blame for a bees death unless they purposely stood on it.

Bees probably wouldn’t increase in population as spider, pray mantises, and wasps are always out to get them.

1d:Name ten things a bee has in common with a refrigerator.

1. Bees are cold blooded and a refrigerator is cold.

2. Both have 4 legs.

3. Both have a body.

4. Both can produce .

5. Both buzz.

6. Both can be small or big.

7. Both get cold.

8. Both have a creator.

9. Both help keep plants fresh.

10. Both can vary in colour.

1e:What would happen if there were no bees?

No. (Bees produce the )

No oxygen. (The pollen they collect from the flowers is used to help the trees and plants grow, and that is how we gain oxygen)

No flowers.

No fruit. (If the trees and plants die we will have no fruit)

No animals. (If the fruits and plants die the animals will starve)

No animal skins and wool. (If the animals die we cannot gain the wool and skins)

No clothes. (Clothes are commonly created from animal products meaning we will be left in the nude)

No dignity. (No clothes no dignity, no bees no dignity, simple as that)

1f: Imagine you were as small as a bee, write down five thing you may feel or do.

I would feel threatened by the smallest human.

This is what a flower looks like to a bee.

I would need much less resources.

I COULD FLY!

There would be no seats my size.

The Bronze Jump

Thump, thump, thump! My heart was beating so fast and furiously I thought it might fly out of my mouth.
I lunged down low reminding myself of the steps, sprint, launch, scissor kick, both feet land.
I started the curvy run to the bar, I leapt from foot to foot till the bar was so close I could see the sun
painting glistening patterns on the deep sea blue.

With the top three on the line I kicked my legs up as high as they would go and landed on the other side
of the bar as gracefully as an elephant. “Well at least I made the jump.” I told myself.
So far there were five left and I planned on making the top three if that meant bruising my eyes
with my legs.

While I stood staring at the bar, I realised it was over half the size of me, probably three quarters!
My heart was no longer beating as it had long ago fled as I knew I should.
But the thought of making this jump forced my legs down into lunge and I forced my legs and arms
to work together to propel me towards the bar…

I knew that by doing the jump I was basically asking for failure, but I was proud to have made it so far.
Even if I may not have made the top three. At least I got one of my leg over unlike others that took
one look at the bar and ran straight past it.

As the high jump came to an end, I listened as we were told the overall scores.
I crossed my fingers, and waited, and waited, seconds felt like hours as I heard the words ‘Third place’
followed by my name! I was overjoyed! I had never come in the top three for high jump and the first time
I have, it’s against year sevens and eights!

That day I gained more self confidence and feeling of self accomplishment, and I can tell you now
that it feels as good as good can get. One cannot feel fully whole without self confidence and the feeling
of self accomplishment. That is a life lesson worth learning.
